Gosh, when was the last time I posted anything??  Too long.

I guess maybe I am so busy with work....teaching K-8th grade children, even though I don't have a full class.....is really tiring work.  You are on all day.....& you can't lose your temper, say an unkind word, or cuss like a sailor, even though there are some children who tax your patience!!
It's different when they are your own.  You can restrict, time out, and banish to their rooms!!

But......that is not why I haven't been on Xanga lately......well, for so long.

I've been going to the gym every day after work for the last 2 months.  I have lost 20 lbs., and hopefully will continue now that I am no longer on the meds that helped to cause the initial weight gain in the first place.  I really am trying.......I'm not getting any younger and every pound tires me out.  I don't want the next 15 years to be like the last.

I also think I am going through a mid-life crisis....although my husband is enjoying the "old" me.  He also is very complimentary on my changing body.  Of course, he has always been complimentary to me, even at my very worst!!
We just celebrated our 22nd wedding anniversary on April 11th.
Since I am going on vacation to Arkansas this summer, we opted to wait to celebrate a big anniversary for our 25th, which is right around the corner.  So, I am going back home for the summer!!  It should be an adventure!!
I will visit some of the oldest members of the family still around.....there aren't too many of the much older relatives....my Great Aunt Kathleen is 96....her Aunt Pauline just passed away last year at age 103!! Plust, lots of landmarks to visit......my Mother's picture hangs in the Arkansas State Capitol building, she was a page for the Legislature back in 1946.  I want to take lots of pictures.

Anyway, I am sorry that I haven't been keeping up with Xanga, I always promise to do better......so, I won't change now.
Good wishes to all my fellow Xangans!!
Happy MayDay.

Hello.
Long time not blogging.  Don't really have any excuse except that for the longest time, I had multiple virus' that made me not even turn on my computer for the longest time.  So sorry.  But, I have been reading my Xanga friends' blogs.  Not commenting much, but I am reading.

It's Thanksgiving week and as usual, the feast is at our house.  It has taken  a  very long time to get my house all back together after cleaning carpets, painting walls, rearranging the furniture I have decided to keep, and getting rid of stuff I have decided I do not need or want anymore.  That was a hard process for me, as so much of my stuff was from my Mom, and then my Dad.

I am extremely sentimental, or as my family would emphasize "just mental"!!  Can't help it, just accept it.

I am getting rid of a "hump-back" trunk, from 1889.  I am giving it to my friend Bay, and she is giving me a bowed glass curio cabinet.  Oak, with claw-foot legs, which will match all of my other furniture.  In this "curio" I plan to display some of Ryan's baby things, which I have never done before.  I plan on putting out his first "walkers", Buster Brown, no less.  Plus, his first "high-top" tennis shoes, that I thought were so cute, I bought them 3 different times, 3 different sizes, each one progressively larger.  Plus his comb & brush set, his first "lost" tooth, his silver cup with his initials, his 1st "Piggy" bank, which is actually a Snoopy silver bank, and so on. I am really looking forward to getting his things out of the cedar chest they have been stored in, and looking at everything, and putting it together,  just right.

In the meantime, I do plan on starting up again with Xanga.  I personally prefer Xanga over My Space, and Facebook probably just because I have been on Xanga for so long, have established so many friendships, and it seems so much easier to use.

So, don't give up on me yet.

In case I don't get on before the holiday,
I hope everyone truly has a wonderful, and thankful, Thanksgiving Day.  Spend it with your loved ones!!

So, Hillary won in PA last night, I am so happy......and I mean this.

I believe that Hillary will be the best choice for our next President.  I believe this because I feel that she has the best interest of this country and it's people.  She has viable ideas, she isn't afraid to face her detractors, and really, she is a smart woman.  I know that there are so many who do not like her.....but, really, why??  Because she is smart and not afraid to face opposition??  Because she didn't "know" her place when her husband was President??  Because she didn't divorce Bill when she was "wronged" by him??  Because she tried to bring about "change" in how we insure American citizens with Health Care??  What is it really that people don't like about Hillary, because for the life of me, I do not understand.

But, what I don't understand even more so is why Barak Obama seems to have this miraculous glow about him that makes "enlightened" people fall all over themselves to support him, and think that he is the greatest thing??  What the hell has he actually done??  What do we "really" know about him, other than he has spent the last 20 years listening to a hate monger, that his wife doesn't think much about America even though she has benefited from it's great educational system.  And that brings up another issue I have with Michelle Obama.......as First Lady, what will be her national platform??  I am curious what kind of response she will get from the American people if she is the one to be our next First Lady??  I know I would not cross the street to hear anything she has to say.  Not because I am racist, not because I am Republican (which I am not), my dislike for the Obama's has nothing to do with the fact that they are black.  My distrust is because a lot of what I have read, heard,  and a lot of what I have seen in the media (which is where I get my news) seems to be contradictory.

Obama said that he would not run a negative campaign, and yet he has.  He has distorted Hillary's record numerous times....and his big thing about how his judgment is so much keener than hers, that he never voted to invade Iraq, and both John McCain and Hillary did....is a distortion seeing as how he was not an elected Senator at the time the vote was taken....just makes me distrust him and his campaign.  They always say that he was raised by a single mother, well......no, he wasn't.  He was raised by his Mother and a stepfather when he was in Indonesia but when they divorced when he was 9, he went to Hawaii to live with his Grandparents.  His Grandparent's were very affluent, he graduated from a very prestigious, very expensive private school, Punahou.  The tuition has always been pretty steep, even back in the '70's, when Obama attended.  Now, I don't not begrudge him his life circumstances......just be honest about it.

When I heard the diatribe that Rev. Jeremiah Wright spewed, about how Hillary will never know what it is like to be black in America, I wanted to puke.  I have news for him, neither does Barry Obama!!  He wasn't raised on Mainland America, he basically was raised in Hawaii (from age 9-18), which most would call Paradise.  He certainly wasn't raised in the inner city of Chicago, which is where he wants you to think he was raised, as he calls Illinois his home state.....and yes, that is where he decided to live after finishing Harvard Law.....but, lets be honest here.

In addition, he has had a privileged upbringing.  And, while I do not want to prolong this argument.....but having the skin color that he has due to the combination of his heritage, (white American Mother-black African Father)....his skin color blended in with practically every other skin color in Hawaii......He actually looks more native Hawaiian.  I would doubt very much whether he had experienced any discrimination while he was growing up, unless it was in Indonesia.....but, probably not there either.  So just what was this comment by Jeremiah Wright designed to accomplish??  While understandably Hillary Rodham Clinton doesn't personally know about growing up as a poor black child in America, neither does Barak Obama!!!

What she does know, though.....is what it is like to be a woman......a woman who took her education seriously and excelled.....who wanted to contribute something back to her Government, even at the earliest time in her political life.  Remember, as a new law school graduate, she worked on the Watergate mess.  Then, she married a smart man with a great education but who came from the rural South, as a poor white child.  Bill's family didn't have any money, and Arkansas was not Texas, or even Georgia in terms of success, and yet Bill went back to his home state, and Hillary followed Bill.  They certainly didn't get rich in Arkansas, no matter how many think that their land dealings there profited them.  Of course, that was before the 8 years in office of the Presidency, their book deals, speech opportunities, or Hillary's New York  senatorial job. In terms of the money they now have, both of them have "earned" it.  It certainly wasn't just handed to them.

But, what do you know about Obama's financial dealings??   He has also made a lot of money with his book deals, and he didn't have the Presidency to thank for that windfall, in fact, he has only been a Junior Senator from Illinois...and not for very long, either.....that's it!!  Talk about being pretty audacious!!  and ambitious!!

When I was a senior in High School, in Little Rock, Arkansas (Parkview Senior High School)  Bill Clinton came to my school to talk to us seniors.  That was in 1974-75, when 18 year olds were given the right to vote.  At the time, Bill was running for the Arkansas Attorney General's office, at the young age of 26....all of us senior girls thought he was the best looking guy, very charismatic....we all swooned over him, and wondered why was he married to someone who, arguably, was not the prettiest girl in the state.  We all thought she must be something special, and she is.  Bill has said before that Hillary is actually smarter than he is, and we can all snicker, and agree.  But, in the grand scheme of things, considering the last 8 years of Bush/Cheney....how in the hell can we think that 4 years with Hillary at the helm could be any worse.......optimistically......it could be so much better, and she will probably go down in history as one of the best Presidents we will ever be blessed to have.  Why not give her a try???!!!

One thing for certain, if Obama get the nomination.......I will, for the first time, vote republican.
